What else is there to do when the weather goes glum than to dress glam?

After a long- and I mean LONG -week of grinding through class projects before my winter break, I was in desperate need of some time to decompress. What better way to do so than explore downtown, grab some great food, and throw on a killer ensemble?

Getting out and experiencing new places with the people closest to me has always been one of my favorite things to do. Since I've made my blog, I enjoy documenting the trips I take and the outfits I wear on them; though there are more times than not where what I'm wearing or if I'm posting on social media is not nearly as important as living in the moment and enjoying myself and the company of those dear to me.

Since today was relatively dry outside I ventured to downtown York, PA, to enjoy lunch at the Mudhook Brewery and snap some shots of this outfit in the alley behind it.

For a long time I felt summoned to develop a blog to call my own to utilize as a creative outlet. While I felt compelled to do so, I didn't pull the trigger until a class I enrolled in required a blog page as a part of an ongoing project. Since having a page to call my own has always been an interest of mine I knew it was the right time to invest some money toward cultivating a site. If I was going to do it, I was going to do it right.

On several occasions I doubted whether or not I would find success blogging, but I have come to realize success is the last component behind my desire to integrate myself within such a competitive industry/community. Writing, particularly about perhaps my greatest passion, has called me to establish my site. Views, shares, and likes were the least of my concerns when I considered establishing my platform, as I believe empty aspirations as such would ultimately lead to unfulfilled engagement and lack of audience retention. Blogging for the right reason(s), being for myself and nothing else, led to theheilstyle.com's creation.

Today's outfit shoot was inspired by autumnal colors. While this color palette may be off season for spring, I wanted to combine my favorite military jacket with a warm color to contrast the glum weather. This jacket was an awesome thrift find I scored a few years ago, and it is still in pristine condition. I also wanted to wear my favorite Marc Fisher suede knee-high boots (which are new to my closet) since I have not been able to in the rain out of fear of getting them wet and staining the suede! I bought them from DSW for an amazing price - $170.00 to $39.00! Truly SUCH a steal, I have already begun to get the cost of wear out of them.

I paired the boots and jacket with a pair of barney purple jeans and multi-color Nicole Miller tunic to further accentuate a warm color scheme. To play up the yellow and tan tones in the shirt I wore this cognac cross body bag from Charming Charlie's. This bag is a favorite among my collection since it is so reminiscent of the Chloe Marcie bag.

The sunglasses I wore are by Michael Kors in the style "Adrianna," and my lipstick is from Stila, shade Patina.
