DECORATING MY MID CENTURY MODERN LIVING ROOM/DINING ROOM

Take a peek inside my retro craftsman home, built in 1920.

As a lover of vintage, antiques and (admittedly) junk, it's natural that I live in a 100 year old house, right? While I didn't set out to buy an older home when I was house hunting, I'm thrilled with what I found. This beauty brings the charm and quirks of all things old world - that I love so much - to life.

As I've settled in, I've channeled my gift to thrift to deck out my space. Creating an aesthetic that nods to the era in which the house was built and my love for all things vintage has been such a joy. I adore the idea of creating an eclectic charm undefined by any single timeframe.

My goal is to contrast the angles and tiered wooden accents of the 1920s archways, staircase and molding throughout the living and dining room with the mid century shapes and silhouettes of the lighting, decor and furniture.

I've searched high and low for unique vintage and modern pieces and paired them with personal mementos, like the silver tray pictured (below) on the table. It once belonged to my stepdad's grandmother and has since found its place paired with a modern candelabra in my dining room.
